Disgusting. Hopefully the US oil spill will continue to shed light onto Nigerian (and other) spills and violence by the same companies we use every day. I have been wondering how we don’t know how to fix these spills with so much experience drilling. They’ve just never been held accountable and we have to demand it from them in a country where there’s at least a slight possibility we will get it (however unlikely).

Granted it must be hard to maintain the pipelines there with the guerilla activity.
But it is a pretty good example of our companies being complicit in severe crimes against humanity.

If you can’t do a thing reasonably safely though, don’t do it, whether the causes are natural or man-made.
