Storage Report (cont’d part 2)

So, the storage solution I’ve implemented is:
PC:
Internal 1TB drive 1: Film/Audio

Internal 1TB drive 2: All other data
2x external 2TB drives for backup. One stored at work, and the other at home. These drives are encrypted with TrueCrypt by having a 2TB container on each drive. Encryption is achieved using a ‘keyfile’ instead of a password, [...]

Taibbi smackdown

Matt Taibbi is usually a wall-of-text, but this time the wall of text comes off as pure butter. Gets really good around the half-way mark.

How To Cook A Fucking Steak

Press This

If you use Wordpress, the ‘Press This’ tool (accessed under ‘tools’ if you login) is super fantastic.
It just puts a little javascript in a link that you can drag to your favorites bar (or wherever). Then you just click on it when you want to write a post. It’ll auto-fill a title for you from [...]

The stupid burns us

The stupid it BURNN!!!SSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111 Watch it all. 8 minutes that’ll change your life. Er… or something.

Hard Reset

In a truly fucked up situation, yeah you can go banging on things incrementally and sorta fix bits and pieces here and there and evolve things, but ultimately when things are really [...]

Encryption

Hey TrueCrypt, where have you been. Simple(ish) Easy(ish) to use free powerful and fast. Seems fast enough to not even need a hardware-encrypting HD enclosure for my offsite backups. Just throw a 2TB truecrypt container on the drive, then you just mount the container with truecrypt (by typing in your password), and it’s just like [...]

Storage Report (cont’d)

I just scribbled a plan on my whiteboard involving buying four more 1.5TB drives. I truly must be going insane. I wanna do offsite storage though, so that means I need another set of backup drives (one for film, one for images/data). Also, it occurs to me that my 750GB backup drive only has 200GB [...]
